BAND BIO;
Recipe for 49 FORD Soul Stew; add one part Aretha Franklin, one part Janis Joplin, one part Neville Brothers, one part Steely Dan, a pinch of da Blues, mix with 4 singers, the "triangle of funk" rhythm section and let the cookin' begin!
"Best band we've had here", "the most high energy band we've seen", "great sound", "great stage presence", "good crowd", "keeps the audience involved", "fantastic song selection", "keeps people dancing", "you guys are fun" are just some of the accolades 49 FORD has gathered as it evolved through it's 2009-2010 performances.
Besides being fronted by one of the most dynamic female vocalists in S. Florida, 3 of the band members are accomplished singers in their own right and have worked hard adding many 2-3 part harmonies into the vocal repertoire. Having 4 lead vocalists available also allows the band to cover songs from; classic '60s-'70s R&B, Blues, early Classic Rock and a few originals while maintaining their "49 FORD" mantra which is; great vocals, great material & great musicianship over a funky dance groove.
Musically, all the band members have individual resumes representing 30+ years in the business including many with national touring acts. Check out the BIO pages because the musical communication these guys maintain makes each performance a unique event.
Take a moment to look through the pages available at this site for; the current song list, bios, gigs, photos from the shows and you'll see this is the band you GOTTA HAVE for your next event, club, festival or private party.
Then, come out to one of our "full house" shows and ENJOY THE MUSIC!!!

NEWS;
Our 1st "blues" gig at the BACK ROOM BLUES BAR went really well. Playing to a full house of appreciative music lovers really stoked the band and the whole evening went really well. We had a HD Video camera crew in the house and hopefully we'll have some great videos to post for ya shortly. Now to get our original stuff together for the SFBS Blues Competition next month.

WOW, what a great weekend at TURN 3 SPORTS BAR in Boca Raton! First gigs out with a new lineup always worry me but the band was hot and the crowd was appreciative. The communication is starting to build between band members and it can only get better. Now we go back to work putting together a all blues show for our upcoming gig at the BACK ROOM BLUES BAR and the SOUTH FLORIDA BLUES SOCIETY COMPETITION for a trip to the INTERNATIONAL BLUES COMPETITION in Memphis.

New members; Chuck Schaeffer (guitar/vocals) & Ken Burgner (bass) and intigrating nicely and a couple of gig cancellations is providing us the time to really let the sound evolve with the new lineup. We're really excited with the new sound (funkier, bluesier) and think y'all will be too. Looking forward to gigging out in a couple of weeks.

Due to heavy work commitments we regret our bass player & friend Ed Berkhof is leaving 49 FORD and will be replaced by a great local talent Ken Burgner.

WOW, Saturday night and a full house at FishTales!! Chuck stilll getting the hang of the arrangements and the house PA continues to be a pain but the band was hot and the crowd enjoyed themselves. All in all a good time was had by everyone.
*******************************************************************************************************************************
Our 1st gig with Chuck went really well with only 2 rehearsals to get 40+ song arrangements together. We had a good crowd at FishTales and closed the evening with a few of the ladys dancing on the stage and PA speakers with us. Fun as always and we posted some pictures on both the band & fan photo pages. Check it out!!

One of my least favorite superstitions is that band photos are the "kiss of death" for that lineup and once again that has proven itself true but, we will be ready to go for our next gig at FishTales on Friday 6/11/10. The music never stops!!
*******************************************************************************************************************************
Great Friday night gig at FishTales!! Ed was a little under the weather but the crowd was into it and the band had a ball. We posted some new videos.
*******************************************************************************************************************************
Nora & I just returned from 3 days of great music at the Wannee Music fest in Live Oak (North) Florida. The bands were a combination of New Orleans funk, the Allman Brothers and several spin-off bands. Great inspiration for our 4/24/10 gig at FishTales which we shot with our ZOOM Q3 video recorder.

Our first Friday night at FishTales in a while. Thanks to all the friends & fans that came out and a special thanks to the 'Nyte Owl" Jack Carchio who did a great job filling in on guitar for Wrennie as he recovers from hip surgery. THANKS JACK!!

Had a great time at JDs Bar & Lounge in Coral Springs last weekend. The place was packed and the band held up well considering a couple of us had that bug going around. Look for us back there once a month for the next 5-6 months (and beyond).

A great post Winterfest Boat Parade gig last weekend at our favorite haunt FISHTALES. Great bar, great crowd and the band was smokin'. Nora, Larry & Gil were using our new in-ear monitoring systems and both the lead & harmony singing was spot-on. We had the video recorder running and posted a bunch of tunes on the band YouTube site (link above).

We just got back from our San Francisco trip where Gil had a chance to re-unite with some former Bay Area musical compadres when we spent the night at Lous on Fishermans Wharf watching Brad Wilsons Blues Trio with JC and his wife Carol. JC & Gil used to play in Colefeat (Lead Guitar & Drums respectively) backing Blues Giant John Lee Hooker in the early '70s. Brad & Gil also played together when Gil lived in the city and Brad was gracious enough to allow Nora & Gil to sit in with his band for a few tunes. The place rocked all night with a full house until closing. Brad puts on 160+ great shows yearly throughout California. Don't miss him if your out that way. www.bradwilsonlive.com JC also has a new band www.caroompasroom.com Check it out!

Gil, Nora & Brad after the show. JC
